Job Description
The Korte Company is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer for commercial/government construction projects. Safety is critical to the success of our construction projects and this position will be the key person responsible for adherence to our safety standards. The ideal candidate will provide proactive, visible leadership in developing the safety culture on the project site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conduct and document daily safety and health inspections
Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports
Maintain safety reference materials on the jobsite
Attend all preparatory and periodic in-progress meetings
Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements and inspections
Conduct new employee safety orientation
Lead on-site safety meetings and toolbox talks
Perform project hazard analysis and maintain hazard communication programs
Verify safety training of workers
Travel/relocation to projects will be required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The characteristics listed below are representative of those sought to perform this job successfully.
30-hour OSHA certification training within last 5 years
8 hrs. of formal safety or online safety and health related course work per year– must be able to provide dates and hours
Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, multi-tasking, communication and conflict management skills
Computer knowledge in sending emails, daily reports, construction look-ahead schedules, and iPad use
Strong work ethic with a passion to fulfill commitments
Remarkable enthusiasm
Sincere obligation to client satisfaction
EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE
Qualified applicants will have:
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, construction management, or related preferred
1-3 years of experience on similar construction projects or a safety responsibility where at least 35% of your duties include Safety – must be able to provide dates and descriptions of previous projects including dollar amounts
BCSP certification as a Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Safety Coordinator may be at the worksite to assess the work or testing being performed. The worksite environment is constantly changing and may include:
Wet and/or humid conditions
Moving mechanical parts
High, precarious places
Risk of electrical shock
Outside weather conditions, such as extreme heat and extreme cold
Moderate to loud noise levels
