Averton is an experienced and award-winning homebuilder, community developer and construction management company. We’re looking to add a Site Labourer to the Construction Team in our Edmonton office.
The Site Labourer performs many of the general site maintenance tasks necessary to support the ongoing workings of a construction site. Accountable to both the Construction Manager and Site Supervisor, the Site Labourer will complete various tasks across a residential construction site in Edmonton, Alberta working closely with the Site Supervisor and project teams.
As a Site Labourer, you will be responsible for the following:
Prepare and ensure areas are ready for trades to work in
Perform daily site maintenance tasks to ensure the site is clean and areas are safe
Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required - hard hat, goggles, safety shoes, vest, ear plugs etc.
Cleaning areas of debris and placing in trash receptacles
Helping to maintain a clean jobsite, site trailer and any private or public spaces
Loading and unloading of materials and move materials to work areas manually and/or utilizing equipment provided
Maintain inventory of required site material as it relates to labourer duties
Sweeping of work areas inside the residential units as well as exterior areas and general housekeeping
Maintain walkways to ensure they are free from debris along with entry and exit points
Clearing snow and placing salt on walkways as well as stairways, porches and construction office surroundings
Other manual jobs as required such as guard rails and other safety related issues
Traffic control
Able and willing to follow instruction from supervisors
Must be punctual and reliable
On your resume we will be looking for the following qualifications:
General knowledge of, and familiarity with, residential construction site operations
Basic understanding of applicable safety regulations, including AHSA and WHMIS
Previous experience working on a residential construction site
Ability to work effectively in all weather conditions
Capacity to perform physical labour and other strenuous tasks
Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily on an active construction site in Edmonton, Alberta.
Duties are mainly outdoors, with some work indoors in unfinished or finished structures.
The role involves exposure to noise levels that may be loud or uncomfortable.
Work may occur in extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold.
Exposure to airborne contaminants, such as paint or sealant fumes, may occur.
Employees work around hazardous equipment with a potential risk of moderate injury.
Lighting conditions may vary and can be very bright or dim at times.
There is potential exposure to minor hazards that could result in cuts or burns.
Occasional exposure to whole-body vibration from tools or equipment may be required.
Work is often conducted in close proximity to others.
Physical Demands:
Physical demands are primarily sedentary, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. and frequent handling of minimal weight
The role involves sitting for extended periods of time
Continuous use of vision and hearing is required, along with regular twisting and verbal communication
The position frequently involves standing, fine motor skills, sitting and manual handling
Walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing or pulling, bending and crouching are required on an occasional basis
Climbing is rarely required
