Position: Multi-Disciplined Site Construction QA/QC Lead
Description of Position: A Multi-Disciplined Site Construction QA/QC Lead is responsible for establishing, implementing, and enforcing quality management systems across various construction disciplines—including civil, structural, mechanical, piping and electrical—to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards. Lead QAQC team of inspectors, documentation control and administrator, and oversee the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) process from project inception to final turnover.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Overall: QAQC Lead is responsible for establishing, implementing, and enforcing quality management systems across various construction disciplines—including civil, structural, mechanical, piping and electrical—to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation: Developing and implementing site-specific quality plans and procedures. Establishes standards and expectations for implementation of WB Melback Corporation Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) requirements for all aspects of the Project.
Cross-Discipline Supervision: Managing QA/QC inspectors across multiple scopes (e.g., earthworks, piling, concrete, piping, electrical). Manages, mentors a positive QAQC culture of all project team members including sub-contractors.
Compliance and Inspection: Verifying that site activities adhere to ASME, CSA, or other relevant codes, and managing the Request for Inspection (RFI) process.
Documentation and Turnover: Managing non-conformance reports (NCRs), auditing, and compiling documentation for final as-built turnover.
Coordination: Acting as the primary point of contact for Project CMT, clients, subcontractors, and vendors regarding quality issues.
Reporting: Provides standardized reporting for the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functional areas ensuring that the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and all relevant Project stakeholders have access to valuable data and analytics.
Trades Onsite Training: Provides indoctrination and training of project staff and management as defined in the WBM Quality Program.
Develop & Maintain Site Document Turnover Index – Develop and maintain the Project Document Turnover Index as per Project Specifications.
Suppliers / Sub-Contractor Selection: Participate in the evaluation and selection of suppliers and subcontractors.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
Experience: 5-10+ years of QA/QC experience in heavy industrial or civil construction
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in interpreting complex, multi-discipline drawings, specs, and codes.
Certifications: Often requires or prefers certifications such as CWB, API, or equivalent experience.
Software: Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and document control systems.
Rotation: 14 Days In / 14 Days Out
Shifts: 12 Hours Shifts (11.5 hours paid with 30 min unpaid meal break)
Location: Northwestern BC – Newmont Red Chris Mine
Compensation: Flights, Travel Meal Allowance & Camp Accommodations & Meals Provided
