The Opportunity
Spiecapag Australia is delivering some of the country’s most complex pipeline and HDD infrastructure projects. We are seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial, contractual, and financial performance of our projects.
This role is also well suited to a Senior Contract Administrator or Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a Commercial Manager position, with strong experience across cost control, contract administration, and major project delivery.
About the Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take ownership of the full commercial function, ensuring projects are delivered profitably, compliantly, and with strong contractual control.
You will partner closely with operations to drive outcomes across cost, time, risk, and change management while leading and developing the commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all commercial, contractual and financial management of projects
Administer head contract and subcontracts, ensuring all notices and entitlements are managed correctly
Drive cost control, forecasting, and margin performance (EAC, cost to complete, forecasts)
Implement and manage change management processes, ensuring variations, delays and claims are captured and recovered
Provide strategic commercial advice to the Project Manager and senior leadership
Lead risk and opportunity management, maintaining a live and actionable project register
Manage procurement and supply chain, maximising value and margin outcomes
Oversee project reporting, including financial and non-financial performance metrics
Drive commercial awareness across the project team and build a strong cost-conscious culture
Mentor and develop commercial team members to build long-term capability
About You
We are open to candidates stepping up, provided you bring strong grounding in commercial project delivery.
You will have:
Experience in contract administration and cost control on major construction/infrastructure projects
Background as a:
Commercial Manager, OR
Senior Contract Administrator, OR
Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up
Strong knowledge of contractual frameworks, claims, and change management
Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
Experience engaging with clients, subcontractors, and multiple stakeholders
Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
Qualifications (preferred):
Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, Finance or similar
