Signal Engineer I

Who will you be working with?

Wabtec’s Digital Intelligence Signaling & Systems team is a recognized industry leader in the successful delivery of complex integrated system projects. These projects involve signaling, train control, communications, and back-office solutions with a strong focus on project execution, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction.

How will you make a difference?

As a Signal Engineer, you will be responsible for wayside/crossing designs and VLC/WIU programming. You will be working with customer specifications with railroad road standards and FRA regulations.

What do we want to know about you?

You must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic, computer or mechanical engineering; or computer science. Equivalent work experience in the railroad signal industry is acceptable in lieu of educational requirement
• Proficient with MS Office suite (Excel, Office Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio and Word)
• Strong written and verbal communications skills

Preferred:

• Knowledge of accepted railway industry quality standards, AREMA guidelines, FRA regulations, and customer specific requirements, preferred but not mandatory Must become familiar with individual customer’s standards as a part of the check process 

What will your typical day look like?

• Complete wayside/crossing designs as required
• Complete vital logic controller (VLC) programming as required
• Complete wayside interface unit (WIU) programming as required
• Complete scope reviews with manager and project leader
• Attend project reviews with customers and project leads
• Work within Microstation (CADD)
• Manage and organize files within a document control system
• Maintain versioning control
• Review deliverables for proper version and accuracy prior to delivery
• Produce documentation as required by the DP/DLWI Quality System requirements
• Monitor budget and timelines
• Acquire a thorough understanding of RR standards and FRA regulations
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards and guidelines
• Perform other tasks as assigned by manager

 

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $64300-85300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
