Ghent Landscape is currently seeking motivated individuals looking to join our growing winter maintenance team as a Sidewalk Crew Member. Suitable team members are motivated individuals that enjoy working outdoors on a daily basis and are comfortable working evenings and on call shifts.
The ideal candidate must be available on call 24/7 for snow removal season (November 15 - April 15). This position could lead to full-time year round employment.
The Sidewalk Crew Member plays a key role in ensuring our clients’ properties remain safe and accessible throughout the winter season. Working as part of a small team, this position is responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, and entrances at commercial and residential sites. The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work in all weather conditions, often during early morning, night, or on-call shifts depending on snowfall events. A successful team member takes pride in delivering quality work, maintaining safety standards, and representing the company professionally on every job site.
Duties & Responsibilities
Clear snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, and entryways at commercial and/or residential properties
Work as part of a crew of 2-3 team members to complete assigned sidewalk routes efficiently and safely
Apply salt or ice melt as required to maintain safe walking surfaces.
Review and follow site maps or service plans to ensure all designated areas are cleared according to customer requirements.
Communicate effectively with the Supervisor or Crew Leader to confirm job completion and address any issues on site.
Adhere to all company health and safety policies, training, and reporting procedures.
Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, sometimes extreme winter conditions.
Be available for night shifts, weekend work, and on-call assignments as required during snow events
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required: Education, Credentials, Skills & Experience
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs repeatedly, throughout a shift
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality work standards.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to follow directions, site maps, and safety procedures accurately.
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Valid Ontario G Class driver’s license is strongly preferred; reliable transportation to and from the shop is required.
Previous experience in snow removal, landscaping, or outdoor labour is considered an asset
