We are currently looking for a Short-term Power Market Strategy Analyst to provide support for both short-term power market optimization and long-term energy forecasting initiatives. This position is integral in participating in daily shifts and bidding activities, while also contributing to the development of sophisticated forecasting models. Additionally, the role will be responsible for monitoring competitive activities and assisting in the formulation of short-term power market strategies.

What will you do:

• Help analyze historical data to assist in forecasting short-term and long-term energy needs, contributing to the company's budget and planning efforts
• Participate in scenario analyses to understand the potential impacts of different energy strategies, working with other teams to improve energy dispatch and bidding approaches
• Work with various teams to support energy resource allocation, helping with contractual agreements and participating in market auctions
• Provide support to create effective bid strategies based on current market conditions
• Stay informed about industry trends and practices, helping to update forecasting models to ensure they remain accurate and relevant
• Support the analysis of competitors' actions in wholesale markets, helping to evaluate their bidding strategies and find areas for improvement
• Help evaluate new energy market products and support their integration into business operations
• Keep track of regulatory changes that affect the power market
• Work with teams on software-related projects to ensure tools meet user needs and improve efficiency
• Help prepare reports and presentations that summarize key findings and recommendations for management
• Design and develop systems, algorithms, and methodologies to optimize trading performance
• Have the ability to work rotating shifts of 8 hours, including night shifts, weekends and holidays and be on-call

What you need to be successful:

• A BSc in Engineering or Applied Economics or Mathematics or a related field
• A postgraduate degree in Data science, Machine learning or AI will be considered an asset
• 1-3 years of previous working experience in wholesale energy markets (DAM, Balancing) as a plus
• In-depth working knowledge of Statistical analysis and Machine learning
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, R, or VBA
• Knowledge of Power BI would be considered an advantage
• Energy Trader Certificate - Electricity (ETCE) will be considered an asset
• Energy Trader Certificate - Derivatives (ETCD) will be considered an asset
• Energy Trader Certificate - Gas (ETCG) will be considered an asset
• MS Office (preferably excel), Modelling skills
• Strong analytical skills, ability to understand business situations and provide data analysis.
• Experience with data analysis tools
• Efficient decision making and problem solving
• Self-motivation, ability to exercise initiative and adhere to strict deadlines
• Regulatory compliance and adaptability
