Job Overview
The Shop Mechanic Helper supports shop mechanics in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of cranes and related equipment. This role assists with daily shop operations while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. The Shop Mechanic Helper plays an important role in supporting efficient repairs, following safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the shop.
This position requires a strong mechanical foundation, the ability to work flexible hours as needed, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
Keeps shop and maintenance area clean and within OSHA requirements.
Support and encourage continuous improvements of the company’s processes, including safety programs
Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures
Requirements
2+ years of related mechanical experience
Working knowledge of shop equipment and tools.
Knowledge of DOT vehicle requirements preferred
Preferred understanding of gas and diesel engines, hydraulic equipment, and electrical system repairs
Must have a strong background in electrical, engines, hydraulics, and computer-controlled systems.
Will be able to work evenings and weekends for crane repairs in the shop.
Must be capable of communicating effectively and professionally with supervisors and other personnel.
Able to read schematics (both hydraulic and electrical).
Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Computer literate with the ability to process information
Strong work ethic with a commitment to quality
A history of safe work habits
Hard worker with a great attitude
Have a current and valid driver's license along with a clean driving record
Ability to drive a company service vehicle. Must keep the vehicle clean and maintained.
A high school diploma is required, and higher education, including vocational training, is a plus.
