As our company grows, we are seeking a motivated Shop Hand to support our daily operations and maintain our well-organized shop.
Position Summary:
The Shop Hand is an essential part of our operations team, ensuring that the shop remains clean, organized, and fully stocked while supporting basic maintenance and logistics tasks. The ideal candidate is physically fit, detail-oriented, and ready to work in a hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities:
General Shop Maintenance:
Clean, organize, and maintain the shop floor, work areas, and storage areas.
Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored, labeled, and accounted for.
Assist in receiving and inspecting incoming shipments.
Equipment Handling:
Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials safely.
Assist technicians by preparing equipment for service calls or repair.
Help with equipment check-in/check-out processes, ensuring accurate recordkeeping.
Basic Repairs & Assistance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks (e.g., cleaning equipment, lubricating parts) as directed.
Provide support to skilled technicians during minor repairs or adjustments.
Assist in assembling or disassembling equipment when needed.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Maintain awareness of potential hazards and report any safety issues immediately.
Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper use by self and others in the shop.
Inventory & Documentation:
Help track inventory levels and inform the Shop Manager of supply needs.
Assist in organizing paperwork and updating records for tools and equipment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in a warehouse, shop, or production environment is an asset.
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more) and perform physical tasks over extended periods.
Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
A commitment to working safely and following established procedures.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one (preferred).
