Job Description

Store Assistant - UCOOK - Cavendish

An exciting opportunity at UCOOK has become available for Store assistant at our store.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills who can make customers feel welcome in
our store. You will help identify client needs, present and answer questions about our products and
services and recommend solutions. A positive attitude and a desire to promptly resolve potential
customer issues or complaints will make you successful in this role.

Ultimately, you will ensure that customers leave our store satisfied and you will contribute to the store’s
profitability.

UCOOK is a tech start-up and dinner-kit delivery service based in Cape Town. Our network of top
SA chefs create recipes for our customers to choose from each week, and we deliver the fresh,
locally sourced, ingredients to their door.

Responsibilities
● Uphold Company brand and standards at all times.
● Maximise store sales targets by using skill to upsell and encourage repeat business
● Inform customers about discounts and special offers in store.
● Replenish store floor with merchandise (be able to request more stock and pack shelves when it
    arrives)
● Assist with setting up the deli & bakery counter
● Make coffee
● Complete checklists (Cleaning, closing and opening check lists)
● Keep the store clean and tidy at all times.
● Assist with opening and closing procedures at all times.
● Provide customers with up-to-date advice and general knowledge of our Product and
    Environment.
● Coordinate with the team to provide excellent customer service (especially during peak times).
● Ensure that all administrative tasks take place (Including but not limited to; End of day cash up,
   recording waste, adjusting and issuing Refresh bags, pack and handover Uber orders, record
   refunds and discounts in the log, scan and log slips from items purchased from petty cash, print
   new price labels)

The ideal person must:
● Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
● Maintain a professional attitude and attire at all times.
● Build and motivate staff members, ensuring enthusiastic liaising between customers and staff.
● Respecting fellow colleagues and considering their input and ideas, leading to teamwork,
    rendering passionate and extraordinary customer service.
● Be Self-motivated.
● Perform well underpressure and be able to deal with large burst of customers
● Be Energetic (maintain a high activity level).
● Pay attention to detail
● Take Initiative (self-starting, take action to achieve goals beyond what is necessarily called for).

● Have passion for food

Requirements

● Matric or NQF equivalent.
● Microsoft Office Suite.
● 1-2 years Retail and Customer experience.
● Communicate effectively in English.
● Communication (Listening, oral, oral presentation, written).
● Have a basic understanding of food handling
● Administrative Orientation (personal satisfaction from administrative performance and
    responsibilities).
● Sales Ability/Persuasiveness (utilizing appropriate interpersonal styles and methods of
   communication to gain agreement or acceptance of an idea, plan, activity or product from
    clientele).
● Have reliable transport
