The Shipping Superintendent at Prestage Foods (Eagle Grove Cooperative) plays a pivotal role in overseeing all shipping and distribution operations, ensuring processes are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. This leadership role is responsible for managing multiple shipping shifts, supervising leadership staff, and coordinating closely with internal departments to meet production schedules, customer requirements, and quality expectations. The Shipping Superintendent reports directly to upper management and is critical to maintaining operational excellence across domestic and export shipping functions.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:

· Lead and manage all shipping operations across multiple shifts, ensuring consistent performance, communication, and accountability.

· Provide direct leadership and oversight of shipping supervisors, including the Export Manager, ensuring alignment with company goals and operational standards.

· Oversee and manage export shipping processes, including documentation, scheduling, regulatory compliance, and coordination with external partners.

· Direct freezer management operations, including inventory control, product rotation, capacity planning, and temperature compliance.

· Supervise shipping personnel by providing training, coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action as needed.

· Ensure adherence to all safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements, including USDA, OSHA, DOT, and other applicable agencies.

· Oversee inventory management related to shipping materials and finished product readiness.

· Manage labor planning, scheduling, and staffing levels to meet production and shipping demands across all shifts.

· Monitor, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to shipping efficiency, accuracy, safety, and cost control.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve workflow, reduce waste, and enhance shipping and freezer efficiencies.

· Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, export issues, and inventory variances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

· Maintain effective communication with internal departments, carriers, vendors, and external stakeholders.

· Perform other related duties as required to support overall shipping and distribution functions.

Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

Experience:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in a shipping or logistics environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role (required). Experience managing multi-shift operations, freezer environments, and export processes strongly preferred.

Skills / Abilities / Attributes:

· Strong working knowledge of shipping, logistics, freezer operations, and export compliance regulations.

· Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage supervisors and teams across multiple shifts.

· Excellent organizational and analytical skills to assess processes and drive improvements.

· Proficient in warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.

· Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and move packages and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks in a shipping and freezer environment.

· Willingness to work in environments with varying temperatures, including freezer conditions.
