This position is responsible for contributing to the coordinated efforts of preparing and distributing products to our retail stores. The performance of the duties must align with all Food Safety standards, and ensure a quality service approach to all customers, employees and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.

Major Responsibilities:

• Receives all deliveries and reviews products for quality and verifies proper invoicing with respect to quantity and price ensuring that any discrepancies are documented and invoices are corrected.
• Verifies weight and count of products for preparation of paperwork for pricing at retail level.
• Unloads and loads skids for receiving and shipping purposes.
• Sorts delivered products and stores in appropriate coolers, handling all products with maximum care to minimize damage and/or spoilage.
• Assesses the shelf-life of previous shipments versus new shipments, and tags skids accordingly.
• Strictly observes adherence to all health and safety procedures and dress code to ensure safety of staff and surroundings. Must wear the personal protective equipment at all times as required by Farm Boy Health & Safety Policy and also to work in such a manner as to protect himself and fellow workers from industrial disease or injury at all times.
• Observes correct and safe procedures for moving and stacking products using equipment including forklifts, etc.
• Reports any dangerous situations to the Warehouse Manager for corrective action; i.e. incorrect stacking of pallets, physical damage to building or work tools.
• When required, bring issues with product quality or suppliers directly to the attention of the Produce Category Managers for follow-up and resolution.
• Maintains clean surroundings, free of anything that could potentially cause an accident.
• Maintains equipment as required.
• Observes correct procedures for reporting “safety” incidents.
• May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.

• Typically requires 1 to 2 years of experience in a related position.
• Ability to work from directives with little supervision.
• Must be familiar with warehouse activities and surroundings.
• Good physical fitness.
• Superior standards of cleanliness and service.
• Superior time management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
• Ability to recognize cleaning requirements and equipment maintenance.
• Fluency in both official languages shall be considered an asset.

 Work & Sensory Environment:

• Unavoidable exposure to dangerous or unpleasant environmental elements such as noise, dirt, dust, vibration and extreme temperatures.
• Prolonged exposure to cool, damp working conditions.
• Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
• Required to wear cumbersome protective clothing or equipment during shift.
• Required to lift, carry or handle heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Must be capable of climbing, reaching, lifting, twisting and bending for prolonged periods of time.
