Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor – Custodial Services is responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 10 janitorial staff members to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role provides hands-on leadership, quality control, and daily direction to ensure all assigned areas are maintained according to company and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily activities of a team of 10 custodial employees

Assign tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently and according to schedule

Conduct routine inspections to ensure quality standards are met

Train new employees on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and company policies

Monitor attendance, performance, and productivity of team members

Address employee concerns and resolve minor workplace issues

Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies

Maintain inventory of cleaning products and submit supply requests as needed

Enforce safety guidelines and OSHA compliance standards

Report incidents, maintenance issues, and performance concerns to management

Step in to assist with cleaning duties when necessary

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

2+ years of custodial/janitorial experience

Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred

Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and safety procedures

Strong leadership and communication skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds

Ability to work in various environmental conditions

Comfortable using cleaning chemicals and equipment
