We are currently seeking a Sexual Assault (SART) Advocate.
General Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the SART Manager, the SA Advocate for the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) will respond to SART calls, in the agency’s service area, to serve survivors of sexual assault and human sexual trafficking. The SA advocate will answer the crisis hotline regularly and work two evening shifts per week.
General Requirements: Bachelor's degree preferred with one year's experience working with survivors of sexual assault. One-year experience in a non-profit setting. Knowledge of issues surrounding survivors of sexual assault, basic de-escalation skills and the ability to work independently, manage time and tasks effectively. Knowledge of violence toward women and children’s issues. Bilingual/ Fluent Spanish a big plus. Completion of agency provided 70-hour DV/SA training within 6 months of employment.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
CLIENT ADVOCACY
Respond to SART calls within the agency’s service area.
Provide support and advocacy to survivors at the hospital undergoing a forensic exam and while reporting to law enforcement.
Provide follow-up support to clients and connect them to other agency services or partner agency services as needed.
Work two evening shifts (one Saturday preferred) to ensure extended availability of services
Serve as back-up staff (once per quarter) to ensure client needs are met.
Provide ongoing advocacy and case management services to sexual assault clients and their significant others in the community and at Tri-Valley Haven sites.
Accompany clients to social service, court and other appointments, as needed.
Provide coverage for the crisis hotline on a regular basis.
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with law enforcement agencies and hospitals.
Enter services provided into the client database for reporting purposes. Keep monthly confidential client records
DEPARTMENTAL DUTIES
Assist with special events coordination, such as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month Activities.
Assist with tabling and outreach events to increase the visibility of Tri Valley Haven services
Participate in conducting staff in-service training across the agency. (CEUs)
Schedule and complete one ride-along per year with officers from local law enforcement agencies.
Assist with community education presentations regarding sexual assault issues and response.
Provide crisis intervention & therapeutic art workshops to incarcerated survivors.
GENERAL TASKS
Maintain Sexual Assault Advocate Status by attending at least 8 in-service trainings per year.
Must have an insured automobile that the employee will use as necessary for agency related business, including transportation of clients.
Must maintain a good Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to be able to drive for the agency.
OTHER RELATED TASKS AS ASSIGNED BY THE Director of SEXUAL ASSAULT SERVICES OR THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WITHIN THE SCOPE OF TRI-VALLEY HAVEN’S MISSION.
