Sessional Lecturer, Information Technology

About the Role: We are seeking passionate and experienced academics to join our teaching team as Sessional Lecturers in the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) and Master of Professional Information Technology (MPIT) programs. Session 2 2026 commences 13 July 2026. Teaching is conducted in person at our Melbourne campus, with classes scheduled between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM. You will also contribute to research activities and student mentorship.

Teaching areas required in one (or more):

Bachelor level: Internet Technologies, Cyber Security Management, Database systems, System Analysis and Design, Programming in Java 1, Cyber and information security, and ICT Project management, Programming in Java 2, Professional Programming Practice.

Master’s level: Database systems, Programming in Java 1, Cyber and Information Security, Digital Forensics, ICT Project management, and Artificial intelligence and Machine learning, Industry Practice, Emerging Technologies and Innovation, Information Systems Analysis and Design, Artificial Intelligence for Business Applications, Networking Fundamentals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach at AQF 7 (Bachelor) or AQF 9 (Master’s) levels, with guidance from course coordinators and academic staff.
• Deliver lectures, tutorials, and workshops in person on campus
• Engage with students via the learning management system (LMS) and consultations
• Mark assessments and complete administrative tasks within the given timeframe
• Participate in professional development and scholarly activities. Reflect on teaching and apply student and peer feedback for continuous improvement

• A Master’s degree (for teaching at the Bachelor level) or a PhD (for teaching at the Master’s level) in a relevant Information Technology discipline.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably at the university level
• Proven ability to teach and assess students effectively
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Effective classroom management and problem-solving abilities
• Commitment to promoting diversity and equity in education
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
