Service Writer / Recon Coordinator

Dealers Auto Auction of Idaho is looking for a hands-on Service Writer / Recon Coordinator to help keep our auction inventory moving efficiently. This is a hybrid role for someone who knows cars, can write solid estimates, and isn’t afraid to be involved in both the shop and the lot.
This is not a desk-only position. We’re looking for a motivated, organized professional who can manage multiple vehicles at once, communicate clearly, and help drive repairs from inspection through completion.
What You’ll Do
Inspect incoming vehicles and identify needed repairs
Oversee digital vehicle inspections, including:
Pre-sale inspections
Post-sale inspections
Write recon and repair estimates based on inspection findings
Track vehicles through the recon and repair process
Order and receive parts while keeping costs in check
Work closely with technicians, vendors, and management to keep cars moving on schedule
Support shop workflow and ensure jobs stay on track
Maintain accurate notes, pricing, and vehicle status updates
Help uphold quality control standards
Stay actively involved in the shop and lot environment
What We’re Looking For
Experience as a service writer, advisor, recon coordinator, or similar role
Strong mechanical knowledge — you know what you’re looking at
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Ability to juggle multiple vehicles in a high-volume environment
Strong problem-solving skills and sense of urgency
Clear, professional communicator
Dependable, straightforward, and team-focused
Valid driver’s license
Comfortable using computers and shop software
