Job Summary:
Service Route Representative (SRR) performs day-to-day route operations with regard to properly tracking, sorting, storing and transporting patient specimens and other materials, including but not limited to, supplies and patient results.
Essential Functions:
Service Route Representative
Safely operate a company vehicle to pick up, properly store and deliver specimens and other materials, and provides service to internal customers in an organized, efficient, and professional manner.
Responsible for compliance with all processes including and not limited to: timekeeping, attendance and punctuality, vehicle safety and cleanliness, safety and OSHA requirements, proper handling and storage of all samples from the client office to the drop off point, proper packing of specimens for shipment, end of day vehicle checks, dress code, code of conduct and all company/regional/logistics policies and procedures.
Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of specimens, supplies, reports, equipment and materials to the appropriate destination.
Responsible for operating company vehicle safely, as well as maintaining a valid driver’s license and driving record within acceptable company guidelines.
Ensure route is started with proper equipment tools. (e.g., paper logs, carry bag, properly prepared coolers for three separate thermal storage, cell phone, keys, etc.).
Follow route as scheduled/sequenced while allowing for will-call stops and special pickups.
Maintain specimen integrity at all times, including the utilization of specimen carry bag to transport specimens from client office to vehicle by temperature.
Follow all scan/documentation requirements, including but not limited to, tissue/irreplaceable and frozen tracking processes.
Keep route information, sequencing, and all client notes up to date.
Meet all training requirements in a timely manner as assigned.
Properly care for and maintain company equipment including telephones, vehicles etc., and communicate any deficiencies with equipment.
Maintain professionalism and a service orientation with clients using everyday excellence and the five guiding principles.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of safety, infection control and quality assurance policies and regulations.
Skills:
Skill in appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures.
Abilities:
Ability to interpret and respond appropriately to instructions.
Ability to exercise independent judgment, problem solve and make decisions and use discretion in reporting/distributing results.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families and staff.
Ability to organize workload effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy using manual/finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or GED required.
One (1) year of experience in a customer service, logistics, or delivery related job strongly preferred.
Valid driver’s license with a minimum of one (1) year driving experience and documentation of a Motor Vehicle Record with less than three (3) moving violation convictions within the previous 36-month period.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical ability to sit, perform data entry and view computer screen for long periods at a time.
Daily standing, walking, bending, and maneuvering.
May require lifting up to 50 pounds or more to transfer and/or turn patient with and without assistive devices.
Environmental Conditions:
Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.
This is a safety sensitive position.
Travel:
Travel required.
Scheduled Working Hours:
Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Fridays. Hours may vary depending upon the needs of the position, department, and clinic.
