About the role:

As a Senior Web Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining Kong’s core marketing web applications, including www.konghq.com. You’ll design and implement reusable components, enhance site performance and accessibility, and ensure a cohesive brand experience across all web assets. Your work will also influence infrastructure, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes. You will collaborate with a fully distributed team of engineers, designers, and marketing stakeholders to deliver impactful digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-quality web pages and reusable components using Next.js, TypeScript, and modern CSS.

• Optimize site performance, accessibility, and responsiveness across browsers and devices.

• Design, implement, and improve CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions.

• Contribute to infrastructure and deployment processes, including scaling and hosting on cloud platforms.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional, remote teams to deliver on business and technical objectives.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues using observability and monitoring tools to maintain uptime and reliability.

• Maintain strong code quality through rigorous testing (unit, integration, functional, and visual) and comprehensive documentation.

• Support architectural decisions for web systems and CMS integrations (especially with PayloadCMS).

• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in full-stack web development.

• Deep expertise in Next.js, TypeScript, and modern CSS practices.

• Strong understanding of web architecture, scalability, and performance optimization.

• Proficiency with version control (Git), CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions or equivalent), and distributed architectures (AWS or similar).

• Experience with headless CMS platforms, ideally PayloadCMS or comparable systems.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with globally distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying modern web applications on Vercel.

• Familiarity with search indexing (Elasticsearch) and databases (NoSQL/MongoDB).

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies; experience facilitating ceremonies is a plus.

• Prior experience mentoring or leading engineering teammates.

• Hands-on expertise in performance tuning and optimization for large-scale web environments.

• Advanced skills in automated testing across the stack (unit, integration, functional, and visual).
