Salary Range: $150,000 – $180,000

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Virtualization Engineer to support our customer site program in Yokota, Japan. This is an on-site, hands-on engineering role focused on building, operating, upgrading, and maintaining advanced virtualization and networking stacks across the Pacific region.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in VMware virtualization technologies, strong networking knowledge, and advanced experience with NSX and related products. This role is mission-critical and requires an active Secret clearance and the ability to work on-site full-time.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, operate, and upgrade VMware virtualization environments.
• Support and maintain VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) stacks and associated infrastructure.
• Work directly on the customer program to build and operate virtualization stacks across multiple Pacific locations.
• Manage and enhance environments utilizing:
• VMware Cloud Director (VCD)
• VMware Aria Suite
• VMware NSX
• Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
• VMware Avi Load Balancer
• VMware Identity Manager (vIDM)

• Implement and configure Distributed Firewall (DFW) capabilities.
• Perform system upgrades, including planned migrations to newer VCF releases.
• Troubleshoot complex virtualization and network issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, government stakeholders, and customer representatives.
• Maintain documentation and follow change management and security compliance procedures.

Requirements:
• Extensive hands-on experience with VMware NSX.
• Strong experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
• Advanced networking knowledge (routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing).
• Experience with VMware Avi Load Balancer and Distributed Firewall (DFW).
• Proven ability to deploy and maintain enterprise-scale virtualization environments.
• Experience upgrading and maintaining production infrastructure stacks.
• Ability to work independently in secure, high-responsibility environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or government programs.
• Prior experience working in overseas or remote mission-critical environments.
• Familiarity with Pacific region infrastructure deployments.
• Local presence in Japan or the broader Pacific region is a plus.

Required Certifications

• CompTIA Security+ (or higher DoD-approved baseline certification)
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Clearance Requirement

• Active Secret Clearance required at time of hire.
