Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity 

We have the opportunity for two exceptional Senior Video Producers (internally referred to as Video Producer) to join our Media Productions team. One on a fixed term and one on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Creative Director, you will take ownership of creative execution from concept to delivery, leading a diverse array of projects. Whether it’s directing and producing bespoke content, sizzle reels, marketing campaigns or awards packages, you’ll ensure high-quality outcomes every time. 

This role combines creativity, leadership, and hands-on production expertise. You’ll collaborate with a skilled team, engage with diverse clients, and contribute to a dynamic creative environment where every project is an opportunity to innovate.

Please note we have two vacancies available. One 3-month fixed-term and one permanent, both are full-time (37.5 hours/ week) positions. The fixed term is to cover the vacant position while we undertake the permanent recruitment.

As a Senior Video Producer, you’ll be confident and decisive, thriving in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Your strong storytelling abilities, keen eye for detail, and excellent communication skills will make you a valued team member and leader. 

You’ll excel at balancing creative direction with practical problem-solving, from brainstorming ideas to troubleshooting on set. You’ll take the lead as our primary camera operator, confidently overseeing all aspects of filming while balancing creative vision with practical problem‑solving—whether you’re driving the visual approach or troubleshooting on set. Your technical expertise in shooting, editing, and post‑production will be central to the role, and your ability to mentor and support team members will further strengthen our collaborative culture.

We are a tight-knit team of eleven highly skilled creatives producing customised video, motion graphics, and stills for the University of Auckland’s faculties and operations teams, as well as external clients. Our portfolio is diverse and exciting, including teaching and learning resources, docu-style profiles, international marketing campaigns, and award packages. 

We pride ourselves on our supportive, collaborative work environment and our commitment to delivering exceptional content while looking after each other. 

Important Skills | Ngā Pūkenga Motuhake 

• Proven expertise in producing, directing, and shooting across various content formats. 

• 7+ years’ experience producing/directing/shooting in a busy commercial environment 

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop. 

• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. 

• Strong storytelling, creative problem-solving, and client engagement capabilities. 

• Experience shooting on Sony FX6 and A74 cameras (preferred). 

• Familiarity with tools like Frame.io, Artlist, and Farmers Wife (preferred). 

• A positive attitude, willingness to adapt, and enthusiasm for learning new trends and technologies.
