Senior UI Designer - Design Systems (f/m/x)

As a Senior UI Designer (f/m/x) specializing in Design Systems at exmox, you'll join our product design team to lead the creation, evolution, and governance of our design system. In this role, you will ensure visual consistency, scalability, and efficiency across our digital products while designing visually engaging, highly polished UIs for our B2C mobile app and B2B product. You’ll work at the intersection of user behavior, data, and business goals, shaping flows that drive engagement and revenue. Your work reaches over 25 million users and feeds directly into experimentation and iteration, letting you see the real impact of your decisions.

What You’ll Own:
• Design system ownership: Own and scale our mobile Design System for a playful, high-craft B2C product. You start with the component library but extend it to interaction patterns, motion principles, content and microcopy standards, accessibility rules, branding guidelines, and usage documentation.
• Scalable architecture: Define a scalable token-first system enabling theming across our multi-brand apps.
• Visual assets: Create illustrations, icons, and other graphical assets to support the Design System.
• Adoption & governance: Drive adoption, contribution workflows, versioning, deprecation, and quality gates for consistent use.
• Design-engineering collaboration: Partner with engineers to integrate the Design System into the codebase and align design with implementation.
• Documentation & consistency: Create and maintain a single source of truth for designers and engineers to implement the system consistently.
• UI design: Design visually engaging and highly polished interfaces for our B2C mobile app.

Your profile:
• Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing Design System case studies.
• Professional experience: 5+ years of experience in UI or Product Design, with a strong focus on design systems.
• Design systems expertise: Proven experience with white-label and scalable theming systems.
• System strategy: Deep understanding of Design System challenges, including adoption and governance.
• Industry background: Experience in marketing, gaming, or other B2C-heavy industries is a plus.

Hard Skills:
• Design tools: Expert in Figma, including Variables/Modes and scalable library workflows.
• Design tokens & component APIs: Strong in design tokens, theming, and component APIs (props/variants/states).
• Visual asset creation: Passionate about creating illustrations, iconography, and other visual assets.
• Design systems: Experience in designing, shipping, maintaining, and managing versioning and governance of design systems.
• Multi-brand products: Experience with multi-brand, white-label products and theming systems.
• AI-assisted workflows: Familiar with AI-assisted design workflows such as design-to-code tooling, automated documentation generation, and asset production to improve efficiency in design system development.
• Brand identity: Experience in defining, designing, and documenting brand identities.
• Copywriting: Experience in copywriting, including defining tone, voice, and messaging.
• Accessibility & usability: Strong knowledge of accessibility and usability principles.
• Frontend awareness: Familiarity with front-end technologies to collaborate effectively with engineers.
• Language skills: Fluency in English; German is a plus.

Please note: this is not a remote only position, we offer you a flexible hybrid model here in Hamburg, Germany - working from home on Mondays & Fridays, coming to the office on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday!
