to support and develop GLAS’s growing business in Asia.
Position Summary
We seek a confident, experienced and self-motivated individual to join our growing Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team in Hong Kong. You will be responsible for onboarding new DCM transactions, including reviewing
transaction documentation from an operational perspective, managing those transactions through to completion and acting as the primary point of contact for relevant counterparties throughout. Transactions falling within the DCM remit will include new bond issuances, restructurings, MCB issuances and conversions
and liability management exercises.
You will be supported by colleagues across the GLAS network, based primarily in Hong Kong, London and New York. As the DCM team continues to grow, you will be expected to work closely with more junior team members to assist their professional development.
Responsibilities
Managing and organising daily workload, ensuring activities are performed within defined deadlines.
Reviewing and commenting on transaction documentation.
Negotiating commercial points with external counterparties.
Inputting relevant data into internal GLAS systems.
Dealing with client queries in a timely manner.
Liaising as required with counterparts in other GLAS offices and contacts at ICSDs to ensure proposed transactions are workable in practice.
Maintaining a high level of vigilance with regards to risks, and ensuring these are mitigated where possible, and appropriately escalated to senior GLAS staff at the earliest opportunity where warranted.
Managing DCM portfolio of transaction post-close, including managing creditor queries, chasing unpaid amounts and ensuring covenant compliance etc.
Assessing the implications of any amendment, waiver or modification request.
Assessing the implications of any breach of covenant, breach of agreement, event of default etc.
Adhering to GLAS’ values and ethos and providing exceptional client service.
Building relationships with law firms and external parties to enhance GLAS’ market reputation and bring in new work.
Training junior team members.
Experience and Qualifications
Educated to at least degree level.
Experience in the DCM space, mainly Corporate Trust with a knowledge of Trustee and Agency functions.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
Cantonese/Mandarin skills strongly preferred.
An understanding of (and willingness to learn about) the full range of products and services offered by GLAS in Asia.
Highly organised with a “can do” attitude.
Proactive thinker and planner with a strong work ethic.
