About the Opportunity
JORI Logistics is seeking a highly experienced Senior Trade Compliance Specialist (Licensed Customs Broker) to serve as our lead subject matter expert for all Canadian trade compliance matters.
Reporting directly to the Manager of Canadian Operations, this senior-level role holds full ownership of the Canadian adjustment process and serves as the primary consultant for complex client compliance inquiries. This position goes beyond day-to-day execution and plays a critical role as an educator, mentor, and strategic advisor to both internal teams and external clients.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-directed leader with deep regulatory expertise who can mitigate risk, improve compliance accuracy, and provide trusted guidance to both operations and client stakeholders. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Canadian Adjustment Process Ownership
Manage the end-to-end adjustment process under CARM, including Commercial Accounting Declaration (CAD) adjustments, mass adjustments, and voluntary disclosures
Ensure all CAD adjustments are prepared accurately and submitted within CBSA pre- and post-payment timelines
Conduct root cause analysis to identify error trends and implement corrective actions
Provide training and guidance to internal teams to reduce recurring discrepancies
2. Client Consulting, Education & Engagement
Act as the senior compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex Canadian customs inquiries
Serve as the primary compliance point of contact for client consultations
Lead client meetings and deliver presentations on specialized compliance topics such as tariff classification, customs valuation, rules of origin, and CARM
Contribute to Canadian compliance educational content, including regulatory updates and client-facing webinars
Represent JORI and support clients during CBSA compliance verifications and audits
3. Regulatory Administration & Operations Leadership
Lead internal and external initiatives related to the CARM Client Portal (CCP), including delegated authority workflows
Continuously evaluate, enhance, and optimize internal compliance processes
Provide expert mentorship, guidance, and support to junior team members and operations staff
About You
Required
Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) / Qualified Person designation
Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in Canadian customs brokerage and trade compliance
Deep working knowledge of the Customs Act, Customs Tariff, SIMA, and OGD/PGA requirements
Extensive hands-on experience managing CAD adjustments (formerly B2s) and CBSA compliance verifications within the CARM environment
Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex regulations into actionable business guidance
Strong ability to operate autonomously while collaborating cross-functionally
Assets / Preferred
Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designation (highly desired; candidates without certification will be expected to obtain it)
Experience delivering client webinars, training sessions, or compliance presentations
