This is not a reactive role. You'll own a portfolio of mid-tier clients end-to-end — proactively driving retention, upsell, and expansion through high-quality outbound engagement. You'll be the person who picks up the phone first, builds trust before it's needed, and shows clients what they're missing before they think to ask.
The role is structured as 70% outbound and 30% inbound, with a clear commercial bias. You'll operate above day-to-day client services — focused on account health, contract management, and revenue growth across your portfolio.

About you:
A natural, confident communicator — you build rapport quickly and know how to read a client's tone before they've finished their sentence
Commercially sharp with the ability to identify upsell and expansion opportunities and close them with confidence
Structured and disciplined in managing a large, diverse portfolio — you don't need to be chased
High emotional intelligence — you know when to push and when to listen
Resilient and self-motivated — comfortable with objections, energised by outcomes, and capable of sustained high-volume outbound activity
A strong written communicator — professional and concise in emails, proposals, and account correspondence
Proficient in CRM platforms (Salesforce highly regarded) and the Microsoft Office Suite
10+ years of experience in telephone-based account management, inside sales, or customer success — ideally within SaaS, HR technology, compliance, or professional services
Previous experience in compliance or background screening platforms is highly regarded
Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, or a related field is desirable — but experience will speak louder
DELIVERING THE GOOD, STRIVING FOR THE GREAT
What You'll Do:
Proactively call and engage a defined portfolio of existing mid-tier clients to drive retention, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities
Run structured, calendar-driven outbound call and email campaigns to ensure regular, meaningful touchpoints across all allocated accounts
Identify commercial opportunities through account reviews and translate them into revenue outcomes
Deliver compelling product demonstrations and capability presentations over the phone
Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and service arrangements confidently and professionally
Own your sales pipeline — tracking activity, forecasting accurately, and reporting outcomes to management
Focus on retention and renewals of allocated mid-tier accounts
Serve as the first point of escalation for inbound account queries, contract questions, relationship concerns and expansion plans
Resolve client enquiries promptly and professionally, ensuring a seamless and high-quality customer experience
Onboard new SME clients and manage the full lifecycle from implementation through to embedded, self-sufficient use
Conduct regular scheduled account reviews if required verbally and in writing, assessing product usage, satisfaction, and forward opportunity selling
