Senior Telco NMS Lead Developer

Role Purpose

This role will report to the NMS Application Specialist Lead within the CTIO organization and help with providing development and application support to all NMS Applications as required by the business.

Your role will be to develop, enhance and support the NMS (Network Management System) application ecosystem which includes the EXA Infrastructure NMS applications based on both Windows and Linux environments ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of EXA’s NMS applications, delivery of NMS Application projects and in compliance with NMS Application governance and security policies. The Senior Telco NMS Lead Developer role also includes design and implementation of NMS Applications, Application upgrades, Application level security hardening and compliance, application patching & proactive management, The role has requirements of strong understanding of NMS/OSS Telco system applications and proficiency in application development and leading develops and support teams.

Key responsibilities

Providing technical leadership for the NMS IT application domain. with the ability to potentially lead a small team of 2-3 developers

Providing specialist OSS/NMS network planning, set up processes service delivery mechanisms, etc.

Provide lead in technical domain with knowledge of OSS/NMS application solutions for Telco.

Delivering development to adhere to Telco Service Assurance processes specifically ITSM, T2R and FCAPS,

Delivering telco specific solutions with telecom network specific protocols such as SNMP, telemetry

Delivery of development projects and operations support of NMS/OSS applications and platforms such as SMARTS, Cramer, Wat4Net, Ciena, NOKIA etc.

Managing efficient delivery of requirements with the right understanding and coordination with business teams.

Lead the analysis and delivery of DevOps and CI/CD methods and tools.

Lead development of system application solutions on Jenkins, Gitlab, Kubernetes, etc. driving support and training for other team members as well as needed.

Providing senior management with visibility and reports on end-to-end service management of NMS application estate including any issues and/or risks.

Identifying areas for continuous improvement and lead technically the implementation of all ITIL processes including incident, problem and changes once approved by management under EXA CAB as well as ticket & service request management processes.

Provide business users application support with team for issues escalated from the NOC for any NMS application solutions including areas covering application integration with underlying set up, etc.

Developing and documenting new processes to streamline IT NMS Application development & operations.

Strong relevant experience, flexible for the right candidate

Domain knowledge

OSS – NW plan and Build processes, Service Delivery – provisioning, activation

Basic knowledge of optical domain – DWDM

OSS – knowledge of Service Assurance processes - T2R – FCAPS, ITSM processes, good knowledge of SNMP and telemetry

Knowledge of COTS products

Planning tools, inventory (physical, logical, Service Inventory) – Amdocs, Cramer, GIS or similar

NW monitoring – SMARTS, Watch4Net or similar products / technologies

Knowledge of NMS platforms – Ciena, Nokia (Infinera) etc

Software engineering skills

Java, JavaScript, Python scripting skills, Bash, PowerShell, Perl, HTML, CSS, REST APIs etc

Knowledge of automation, any low-code / no-code platforms

Database: Oracle, PL/SQL, MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDB, Prometheus time-series), Postgres, MariaDB

DevOps: Good understanding of CI/CD methodology and tools

Jenkins, Gitlab pipelines, Kubernetes

Operating systems

Reasonable understanding of Linux & Windows

Infrastructure

Adequate knowledge of virtualization concepts

Familiarity with VMware
