Senior System Support Specialist, GTEP - Infrastructure Operations

Contributes to the overall success of the GTEP – Infrastructure Operations in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The incumbent provides responsive systems level support for production critical systems, implementation support and user acceptance environment support on a global basis. This support consists of technical assistance to users, resolution, and prevention of problems in a 7x24 production environment, systems capacity planning and recommendation of solutions to overcome resource constraints, systems level software installation and updates. This incumbent is also responsible for establishing and enforcing departmental logical access control guidelines and liaison with other departments for assistance with implementing new projects. The incumbent will have knowledge in the following platforms: UNIX/Linux.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Support Scotiabank critical applications: perform administration tasks associated with environment of specialization for development, UAT and production as well supporting production code implementation. Help with setup for projects regarding of applications, environments, or new monitoring tools.
Support project: GTS – Infrastructure Operations related, for example, WebSphere, Tomcat and Jboss environment build from IST-UAT-PrePROD-PROD, releases, and certificate renewal to make sure the services are 99.99% up and running. Docker and Kubernetes knowledge will be nice to have.
Work on automation by using Ansible for implementing changes, patching, fixing security vulnerabilities and writing scripts for supported applications.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

Solaris (5+ years recent and hands-on experience)
Linux (5+ years recent and hands-on experience)
Middleware: Apache Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, Tibco (5+ years recent and hands-on experience)
UNIX Shell/Python scripting/Automation
Docker and Kubernetes basic knowledge
Used of Ansible Playbook and Workflow for performing automatic tasks
Work on AM, PM shift and AH (or carry cell phone for after hour support)
Good Knowledge of cloud technology
Ability to work with non-technical users.
Experience on SSL certificate renewal and connection configuration (certificate generation and installation, keystore management)
Good English communication
Bachelor's degree in related field required: Computer Science, Math, Engineering
