Role Description

Form Energy is looking for a Senior System Administrator to join the Form Energy IT operations team and support the team’s growing needs. The Senior System Administrator manages the design, implementation, and day-to-day operation of the company’s IT infrastructure. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, guiding the system administration team to keep systems secure, stable, and scalable. It’s a hands-on position that also involves planning ahead, solving complex problems, and working closely with teams across the organization to ensure IT systems support business needs. This role will be part of our growing IT team at Form and is a great opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects in a quickly growing company.

What you'll do:

• Oversee and participate in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and virtualization platforms.

• Participate in the design and lead implementation of firewalls, including network segmentation, NAT/access rules, cross-site and user VPNs, and Azure network security (NSGs, private endpoints, and Azure Firewall).

• Implement and manage a company-wide patch management solution with environment-specific policies (Microsoft Intune).

• Manage an Active Directory hybrid environment, identity and access controls, and other core IT systems.

• Collaborate with IT leadership to plan and execute infrastructure upgrades and long-term architecture roadmaps.

• Manage several aspects of M365, including SharePoint, OneDrive, and SSO/SCIM.

• Implement and maintain system monitoring to ensure uptime, performance, and reliability.

• Review and improve all backup strategies.

• Work with engineers, lab personnel, and other key stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Automate administrative and monitoring tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

• Mentor and guide junior IT team members.

What you'll bring:

• 10+ years of system administration experience, including 2+ years in a senior or lead role.

• Deep knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, VMware/Hyper-V, and cloud platforms (Azure).

• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, Wireless, VLANs, switches, firewalls, VPNs).

• Experience with monitoring and backup tools (e.g., Veeam, Azure Native Backup).

• Proven ability to manage production infrastructure while balancing reliability and business agility.

• Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash).

• Working knowledge of Google Workspace and M365 administration.

• Strong project management, communication, and mentoring skills.

• Wide range of technical experiences to quickly understand, adopt and manage business facing technical projects.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly to changing demands.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
