The Senior Superintendent is also expected to develop field leaders and contribute to continuous improvement of field operations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all on-site construction activities (subcontractors, consultants, and self-perform work as assigned), ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents.

Administer the project safety program and site-specific safety planning; conduct regular safety walks, correct hazards, and hold all trade partners accountable to OSHA and project requirements.

Serve as, or assign, competent-person coverage for applicable work activities and ensure compliance with required safe work practices.

Develop, manage, and maintain the project schedule and short-term look-ahead plans; align trade sequencing and commitments to key milestones.

Lead the field operating rhythm (e.g., daily huddles/stand-ups, weekly foreman and subcontractor coordination meetings) to remove constraints, confirm readiness, and drive documented action items.

Oversee subcontractor performance, manpower, sequencing, and productivity; verify readiness and resolve issues that could impact schedule, safety, or quality.

Interpret plans, specifications, submittals, and change documents; coordinate constructability solutions and technical issue resolution with Project Management and design partners.

Partner with Project Management on cost control and forecasting, labor/production tracking, and proactive identification of risks and mitigation strategies.

Manage field change identification and documentation to support timely pricing, approvals, and accurate project records.

Maintain high standards of quality control through inspections, testing/inspection coordination, punch list management, and closeout/turnover readiness (including documentation).

Essential Skills & Competencies

Proven field leadership with strong judgment and bias for action

Excellent communication skills; able to run effective field meetings and coordinate multiple stakeholders

Strong planning discipline (CPM concepts, milestones, look-ahead planning, sequencing)

Cost and productivity mindset (labor/production tracking, forecasting awareness, documentation accuracy)

High attention to detail and documentation habits (daily reports, meeting notes, closeout records)

Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
