Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer / CSA Discipline Lead with 15+ years of experience to lead structural and CSA engineering for oil & gas (pipeline facilities) and power transmission projects.
This role combines technical excellence and multidisciplinary coordination within EP and EPC environments.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Expertise
Perform and oversee structural and foundation design for Pipeline facilities (pump stations and client specifications.
Perform and oversee steel and concrete structural design of shallow and deep foundation systems.
Design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations (including pile systems) in liquefiable soils.
Interact with Geotechnical consultant and interpret soil-structure interaction seismic loading and mitigation measures (e.g., ground improvement, deep foundations, densification) in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.
Perform dynamic analysis of structures and foundations turbines) and seismic and wind-induced structural response.
Conversant in mitigating vibration issues in structures and foundations and developing mitigation measures.
Review and validate design drawings and 3D models for constructability, workability, and specifications.
Identify conflicts and field execution.
Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with CAD and 3D modeling platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, CADworx, Civil 3D, Navisworks) to perform design presentations as well as design checks and reviews.
Review vendor data and ensure compatibility with structural performance criteria.
CSA Discipline Leadership
Act as CSA Discipline Lead on large-scale EPC / EPCM projects.
Manage scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables.
Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers.
Ensure quality through design reviews, QA/QC processes, and technical governance.
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective interaction with clients and stakeholders
Lead and facilitate technical meetings and design reviews; clearly document key outcomes to ensure alignment across multidisciplinary teams and project phases.
Prepare and review comprehensive technical write-ups, engineering narratives, and client standards.
Support all project phases: feasibility and commissioning.
Interface with clients’ contractors and vendors.
Review and approve drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Provide site support and resolve field issues as required.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering is required; an asset is candidates holding a master’s degree.
15+ years of progressive structural engineering experience in industrial projects.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), and/or Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). Registration in multiple Canadian provincial jurisdictions is strongly preferred.
Proven experience as Senior Structural Engineer and Discipline Lead on large-scale EPC/EPC/ EPCM projects in the oil and gas and/or Power transmission industry.
Demonstrated leadership on large-scale oil & gas or infrastructure projects.
Experience in managing Engineering scope budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary coordination and design integration.
Strong involvement in Design reviews (HAZOP constructability model reviews) and Client and stakeholder engagement.
Experience in mentoring and developing engineering teams.
Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards and provincial building codes.
Experience with Equipment foundation design for dynamic loads and geotechnical coordination.
Skills
Working knowledge of Structural analysis and design software tools, RISA 3D and/or STAAD Pro. (LPILE and Dyna6.1 will be considered an asset).
Experience in integrating with CAD and 3D modeling platforms (e.g. AutoCAD, CADworx, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks). Project tools: MS Project, Excel.
