Responsibilities:
The role is accountable for remaining up to date with key performance and financial matters at the operations and for developing a deep understanding of the KPIs and cost drivers that impact business performance.
Performance and Delivery
• Design, implement, and maintain financial systems required to support operational needs.
• Standardize financial reporting and ensure consistent implementation of processes across the operation.
• Assist in the design and implementation of new management information systems to enhance financial performance and reporting.
• Develop and set up financial projects aligned with operational and strategic objectives.
• Prepare and manage financial expenditure within agreed parameters and budgetary guidelines.
• Produce monthly management reports highlighting key issues, value drivers, and trend analysis.
• Prepare updated forecasts, including sensitivity analysis, and assess risks and opportunities impacting Valterra Platinum’s results.
• Provide timely and accurate analysis, challenge assumptions, and deliver insightful reviews of value drivers and performance reports (budgets, forecasts, and actuals).
• Continuously analyze operational and financial performance throughout the year, anticipating and resolving issues proactively.
• Identify and evaluate the impact of operating anomalies, adverse financial trends, policy changes, and reporting requirements on financial results.
• Monitor, review, and follow up on control and reporting issues, ensuring adherence to Valterra Platinum policies and procedures.
• Apply and maintain cost accounting standards for the operation.
• Ensure financial practices comply with internal and external standards and regulatory requirements.
• Guide team members to operate within agreed financial parameters and procedures.
• Manage exceptional re-allocation of labour and/or working hours within the team when required.
• Adjust plans and schedules to minimize the impact of unexpected challenges on financial outcomes.
• Liaise effectively with key business contacts and build strong working relationships across functions.
• Participate in Valterra Platinum-led performance and diagnostic reviews, providing supporting analysis to Corporate
• Finance, Investor Relations, Operations Optimization, and Taxation.
• Share and reapply best practices in financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and sensitivity analysis.

Compliance
• Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory, legislative and permitting requirements.
This role is in the Finance Department at Band 6 level reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager.
• Postgraduate qualification in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
One or more of the following Professional Certifications:
• CA(SA) Chartered Accountant (South Africa)
• CIMA Chartered Institute of Management
• Accountants
• CFA Chartered Financial Analyst
Experience
• 5 - 7 years experience of which at least 7 years management experience in a mining/PGMs environment.
Technical knowledge (experience) required for role:
• Accounts Administration system
• Proficient knowledge of financial accounting and reporting
• Proficient knowledge and experience in Financial Management systems, including SAP
Knowledge and Skills
• Advanced levels of proficiency in developing and implementing integrated solutions to maximize value and ensure productivity, a safe and sustainable working environment and delivery against plans.
• Emerging proficiency in the practical application of the Operating Model (workflows, configurations, routines), and its relevance to the business/role.
• Advanced data analysis and management for decision-making.
• Advanced management of work packages across a portfolio of project activities.
• Proficient in financial systems and related legislation.
• Advanced computer literacy for role including SAP.
• Proficient in budgeting and forecasting.
