Job Description

Build the Market Leader in Satellite Analytics with us at LiveEO:
At LiveEO, we are building Twinspector, a next-generation Earth observation mission designed to deliver very high-resolution mono and stereo optical imagery for scalable infrastructure monitoring worldwide. Twinspector strengthens LiveEO’s products Treeline and SurfaceScout by providing a dedicated and reliable satellite data source, improving scalability, reliability, and long-term service continuity. As a Senior Space Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and realizing this mission end to end.

In this role, you will take ownership of overall system integrity, requirements definition, and interface management, working closely with specialized partners. You will operate at the intersection of established space engineering practices and New Space approaches, collaborating with industry partners at eye level. You are familiar with ECSS standards and structured engineering processes, but also know how to apply them pragmatically to drive an integrated mission solution.

Your challenge:
• System Ownership: Own the end-to-end system architecture and integrity from requirements definition to in-orbit validation, including mission-level budgets, trade-offs, and technical decision-making;
• Interface & Requirements Management: Define, consolidate, and verify technical interfaces between bus, payload, and ground segment, ensuring alignment with mission goals;
• Technical Supervision: Review partner deliverables (designs, test plans, documentation) to ensure technical consistency and compliance with system architecture and mission goals;
• Verification & Validation: Define and drive the end-to-end verification approach with partners, ensuring the system meets performance and interface requirements through integration and test activities;
• Process Pragmatism: Apply ECSS standards where meaningful, while maintaining a New Space mindset focused on efficiency and innovation;
• Configuration & Change Control: Maintain system baselines and lead technical change impact assessments across partners (requirements, interfaces, and verification).

Your profile:
• Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred);
• 5+ years of experience in space system design, integration, or verification, ideally within DLR, ESA or other institutional projects;
• Proven experience in space systems engineering for Earth Observation missions, including end-to-end system definition, requirements engineering, requirements traceability / verification planning, and interface management;
• Strong understanding of optical Earth observation payloads, including imaging concepts, performance drivers , and payload–platform interfaces;
• Experience working with institutional, industrial partners and suppliers;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure complex technical topics and drive engineering decisions;
• Solid knowledge of ECSS standards and space engineering processes;
• Fluent in English (German or other European languages are a plus).

Your Benefits:
• A culture of ownership, impact, and innovation where your work directly supports climate resilience and infrastructure reliability;
• Competitive compensation, equity options, and benefits;
• A collaborative and learning environment - frequent internal workshops, knowledge sharing sessions, journal clubs and hackathons;
• Office located in the centre of Berlin Kreuzberg with free fruit, nuts and drinks;
• A diverse and vibrant international environment of 30+ different nationalities;
• We are committed to building an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued and encouraged.
