Role overview

We are seeking a high-velocity Senior Engineer to join our delivery team focused on building and scaling digital products. You will be the backbone of a cross-functional squad, leveraging modern tools to handle heavy lifting so you can focus on system architecture and product iterations. You will work across Python environments to ensure our platforms remain both flexible and scalable.

As a Senior Software Engineer at Qodea, you’ll:

• Take full ownership of backend features, ensuring they are designed for performance, reliability, and observability.
• Build and maintain scalable APIs and services specifically designed to support rapid experimentation and user segmentation.
• Manage integrations and service-to-service communication in a polyglot architecture.
• Proactively use AI coding assistants to automate documentation, generate unit tests, and maintain a high development velocity.
• Monitor system health using observability tools to ensure experiments do not negatively impact core stability.
• Collaborate with mobile and frontend engineers to ensure contract alignment and seamless deployments.

Things that will make you stand out:

• A driver profile with a reputation for getting projects over the line.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of Django, including ORM optimisation and secure authentication patterns.
• Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL databases to manage and query complex data sets.
• A CI/CD advocate who treats the deployment pipeline as part of the product.
• Strong analytical thinking and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, though GCP is our primary focus.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and backend-for-frontend design principles.
