Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Life Sciences team in Barcelona. You’ll play a key role, as part of a cross-functional team, developing and delivering Cortellis Drug Discovery Intelligence. About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field; or equivalent relevant work experience.

2+ years of industry experience in Java (Spring Boot) and NodeJS, as well as developing backend RESTful services within a microservices architecture.

Experience with SQL, Elastic search y AWS

2+ years of experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.

Good knowledge and understanding of Version Control tools (preferably Git)

It would be great if you also had . . .

Experience of working within an Agile delivery environment.

Experience running services in docker.

Experience using Jenkins.

What will you be doing in this role?

Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and APIs in a microservices architecture.

Build scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions using Java and Spring Boot.

Deploy and operate cloud-native applications on AWS, using Docker and CI/CD pipelines.

Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code, following backend best practices.

Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain existing systems to ensure reliability and performance.

Collaborate cross-functionally with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams.

About the Team

You will be part of a team of 6 Talented Software and QA engineers, working in close collaboration with a Solution Analyst, UX Designer, and Product Owner. As part of our Agile processes, you’ll play an active role in developing and delivering Cortellis Drug Discovery.

Cortellis is a leading intelligence platform that provides high-quality, curated insights on drugs, targets, and bioactivity data — helping R&D teams accelerate early-stage research, identify new opportunities, and reduce risk in decision-making.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time, permanent position based in our Barcelona office.

This is a hybrid position, working form the office 2-3 days per week.
