Senior Software Engineer – IDE Integrations (VS Code & Cursor)

As a Software Engineer on the IDE Integrations team, you’ll help bring Datadog’s observability and AI capabilities directly into developers’ everyday workflows—specifically within Cursor and Visual Studio Code. You will be responsible for integrating Datadog services and technologies directly into the Datadog extension for Cursor & VS Code. You’ll build features and tools that empower engineers to understand their code and systems in real time, leveraging Datadog’s runtime data and analytics directly inside their editor.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and implement developer tools that surface Datadog observability data within VS Code and Cursor

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams across Datadog, working on products such as Logs, Error Tracking, Dynamic Instrumentation and the Datadog MCP Server

• Own a key piece of a high-visibility, user-facing product that directly impacts developer experience

Who You Are:

• 7+ Years experience in integrations

• Experienced in creating developer tools or IDE extensions

• A rapid experimenter who can iterate quickly on product ideas

• Passionate about AI-assisted development and improving developer workflows

• Pragmatic and focused on simplicity, performance, and usability

• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, ideally Typescript + (e.g., Python, Go, Rust)

Bonus Points:

• Experience building VS Code extensions, Language Servers (LSP), or similar developer integrations

• Comfortable working in distributed teams

• Skilled at writing testable, maintainable code and ensuring smooth CI/CD integration
