Senior Software Engineer - Customer Experience Engineering

The Team Snowflake’s Customer Experience Engineering Team is expanding! We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team who enjoys building intelligent data applications that provide insight into diagnostic data and technical content relevant to issues customers may encounter. Our Customer Experience Senior Software Engineers enjoy developing features into the Snowflake product that aim to greatly reduce friction points that block customers and regularly require help from Snowflake technical experts. They are excited by the challenges presented by extracting intelligence from a wide variety of data sources, including structured and unstructured data.

You will:

- Own the lifecycle: Understand and participate in all aspects of the software lifecycle, from architecture and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and support.

- Drive project delivery: Take ownership of medium-sized projects independently, driving them to completion, while acting as a key contributor for specific areas within large-scale, complex initiatives.

- Lead and Collaborate: Lead semi-complex projects involving multiple team members. Effectively work with engineers across disciplines and geographies, coordinating activities across groups to achieve success.

- Tech Stack Mastery: Build scalable services using Java and Python hosted in AWS Lambda and Kubernetes.

- Elevate Quality & Process: Proactively step up to address team-wide issues, such as improving software quality, refining engineering processes, optimizing tools, and resolving technical debt.

- Support the Customer: Step up to support critical customer issues and incidents, using your deep understanding of the system to diagnose and resolve friction points.

- Mentorship: Provide technical oversight and active mentorship to other employees, helping junior engineers grow their skills and impact.

- Team Building: Participate in the hiring process as a key interviewer, demonstrating the ability to accurately assess the skills and potential of candidates to help build a world-class team.

Our ideal Senior Software Engineer will have:

- Education: B.E/M.E in CS or B.S./M.S degree in CS, MIS, or equivalent discipline.

- Experience: 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.

- Architecture: Deep understanding of modern application design architecture, good API design patterns, ETL , performance, and scale.

- Language Skills: Expertise in at least one of the following (bonus for more than one): Java, Scala,REST API. Should be comfortable with SQL.

- Best Practices: Rigorous adherence to software engineering best practices: unit testing, code reviews, and design documentation.

- Troubleshooting: Excellent debugging skills, especially in a cloud environment, with a willingness to dig into complex problems.

- Leadership: Demonstrated technical leadership experience, such as being an architect or tech lead for high-impact projects.

- Communication: Great communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse set of peers, external developers, and stakeholders across different time zones.

- Mindset: Genuine enjoyment of the art of building great software and a love of learning new things.
