Job Description
About LivTech
LivTech is building the intelligence platform that provides the full picture of long-term care. We're uniquely positioned to connect data and insights across our product suite - transforming how care is coordinated, delivered, and experienced for seniors. Over the next few years, we're working toward a unified platform that gives caregivers, operators, and families the complete visibility they need to deliver exceptional care.
With 7,000+ customers, 15+ products, and $100M+ in revenue, we're a company with startup energy and real scale. Backed by private equity, we move fast, think big, and ship software that makes a genuine difference in people's lives.
We believe in humility, honest communication, extreme ownership, and quality craftsmanship. We work hard, have fun, and hold ourselves to high standards.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Eldermark team and help shape the future of our core product. You'll work closely with our Technical Architect to increase velocity, build features on the 2026 Eldermark roadmap, and lead a strategic initiative to consolidate our microservices architecture - simplifying infrastructure while maintaining the reliability our customers depend on.
This is primarily an individual contributor role, but we expect leadership by example: mentoring teammates, championing best practices, and elevating the quality of everything you touch. For the right person, there are clear paths to technical leadership and/or team leadership as the organization grows.
How We Work: AI-Augmented Development
We expect engineers to leverage AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and similar assistants as part of their daily workflow. Think of it as pair-programming with a capable but junior developer - AI helps generate code quickly, but your senior judgment drives quality. You'll review AI-generated code in real-time, guide it toward the right patterns, and ensure what ships meets our standards. If you're already working this way, you'll fit right in.
What You'll Do
• Design, build, and ship features for Eldermark's healthcare platform serving thousands of senior living communities
• Lead efforts to consolidate and simplify our microservices architecture, reducing operational complexity
• Collaborate with our Technical Architect on pragmatic decisions that balance velocity with maintainability
• Write clean, well-tested Groovy/Java code following domain-driven design principles
• Contribute to our Spring Cloud ecosystem (service discovery, API gateway, inter-service communication)
• Integrate with AWS services and optimize cloud infrastructure
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance
• Help shape engineering culture and practices as the team scales
Tech Stack
• Languages: Groovy, Java
• Frameworks: Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security (OAuth2/JWT)
• Data: PostgreSQL, Spring Data JPA, Liquibase
• Cloud: AWS (ECS, Cognito, SQS, SNS, S3, Secrets Manager)
• Architecture: Microservices with Eureka, Spring Cloud Gateway, OpenFeign
• Testing: Spock Framework, TestContainers
• Observability: Elastic APM, LaunchDarkly feature flags
• Build & Deploy: Gradle, Docker, AWS Copilot
• Healthcare: HL7 integrations, HIPAA-compliant infrastructure
What We're Looking For
Required
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Java or Groovy with Spring Boot
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Track record of delivering production systems at scale
• Comfort using AI coding assistants as part of your workflow
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Must be located in the United States (Eastern to Pacific timezone)
Preferred
• Experience consolidating or simplifying distributed systems
• Spring Cloud experience (Gateway, Eureka, Feign)
• Healthcare technology experience (HL7, FHIR, or HIPAA-compliant systems)
• Spock or BDD-style testing experience
• Event-driven architecture experience (SQS, SNS, Kafka)
• History of mentoring other engineers
Why LivTech?
• Mission that matters: Your code directly improves the lives of seniors and caregivers
• Startup energy, real resources: Private equity backing means we move fast with support
• Technical challenges: Complex healthcare integrations, scale, and architecture modernization
• Growth potential: Technical and team leadership paths available
• Competitive compensation: $150K–$180K base + performance bonuses
• Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, vision for you and dependents
• Generous PTO with flexible scheduling
• Hybrid work local to the Atlanta area
• Professional development: Reimbursement for courses, conferences, certifications
