Senior Software Development Manager

We are looking for Senior Software Development Manager to lead Personalization for Video. This is a strategic role to shape and deliver our technical strategy in developing and deploying Machine Learning solutions to our hardest customer facing problems. Our goal is to delight customers by consistently presenting the most relevant movies and TV shows from our vast catalog of titles. We’re investing heavily in building the #1 TV and movie recommendation engine in the entertainment industry, attacking the ‘whole page optimization’ problem which is an area of emerging research in the industry and developing insightful customer intelligence that brings astounding precision to marketing communication. These initiatives are at the heart of the organization and recognized as the innovations that will allow us to build a differentiated product that exceeds customer expectations.

Our physical and digital businesses have an incredible wealth of data on customer behavior across dozens of product categories including customer taste in books and music. The right candidate will have a track record of combining data and algorithms in innovative ways to deliver compelling products. Our systems run at massive scale, boast four 9s availability and snappy response times. The right candidate will bring experience in building and operating ML solutions at comparable scale. The role also demands collaboration with business, engineering and Machine Learning Science leaders across Amazon to leverage and share datasets, algorithms and features. The right candidate will demonstrate a track record in building fruitful cross organizational partnerships to deliver results.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Developer
• 5+ years of experience managing people

Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline

· Experience developing machine learning systems

· Experience developing web services, or other large scale distributed systems, that have been successfully delivered to customers

· Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

· Passionate about delivering exceptional products that delight customers.
