Senior Software Development Engineer - Web (Subs & Pay)

Job Summary: As a Senior engineer, you’ll build a world-class content viewing experience for our customers by solving complex technical problems and building systems which run at an enormous scale. The role is expected to design and deliver high-quality distributed applications and also keep an extremely high operational excellence bar to provide a seamless experience to our customers on the JioHotstar website and TV applications.

About the team:
Subscriptions and Payments Team powers the end-to-end direct monetization engine for India’s largest subscription platform, with over 250M+ subscriptions. We build scalable, multi-tenant systems for acquiring users via D2C and partner channels, reducing churn through intelligent renewal and retry mechanisms, and integrating deeply with global and local payment ecosystems like UPI Autopay and card mandates. Our platform drives seamless onboarding, high retention, and reliable payments at scale—enabling frictionless subscription experiences across geographies and devices.

Key responsibilities::
• You will improve and add to our ever-growing bucket of the features as an owner

• Collaborate with stakeholders of the product to deliver new user-facing features on the website/app

• You will ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and implement them

• Own and lead a feature through design to delivery

• Build reusable code and cross-functional libraries in contributing to our extensive in-house Design system. Review code and uphold coding standards

• You will document and demonstrate solutions by creating documentation, DFDs, code comments

• Support and mentor software engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities

• You will be responsible for making JioHotstar available in devices with constrained memory and network by continuous optimisations and pushing the web forward

Skills and attributes for success::
• Strong experience in HTML, CSS and Javascript

• Deep knowledge about how browsers work

• Deep understanding about design & architecture patterns

• Highly enthusiastic and enjoy learning new technologies and frameworks

• You know why a framework is necessary and should have a strong command on modern frameworks, tools and libraries

• Open source contribution is good to have

• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools Git

• Prior experience collaborating with external vendors is preferred.

Preferred education and experience::
• Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or a related field with 4-7 years of professional experience as a frontend developer with hands-on experience on Javascript.
