We are seeking a seasoned Senior Self-Certification Architect to join our expanding design/build team in Oak Brook, IL. This role is perfect for an experienced, Chicago-licensed architect who excels in fast-paced environments, enjoys leading design teams, and wants to contribute directly to growing a collaborative architectural practice. The Oak Brook office provides a dynamic setting where your expertise will guide projects from initial concepts through permitting and construction. Candidates should have substantial experience with self-certification processes, local zoning regulations, and building codes, ready to oversee multiple projects while mentoring junior designers.
Responsibilities
• Lead architectural design projects for rooftop structures, residential, multi-unit, and mixed-use developments in Oak Brook.
• Manage projects from conceptual design through permitting and construction coordination.
• Mentor and supervise junior designers, ensuring compliance with zoning and building codes.
• Collaborate closely with in-house engineering, inspection, and construction teams.
• Oversee multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards and deadlines.
• Communicate directly with clients and internal stakeholders to align expectations.
• Support business growth by contributing leadership and design expertise in Oak Brook operations.
Requirements:
• 10+ years of experience as a Chicago-licensed Architect.
• Proven experience with Self-Certification procedures preferred.
• Strong understanding of local zoning, permitting, and building codes applicable in Oak Brook.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently and lead junior designers.
• Self-motivated, confident professional with excellent organizational skills.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Construction experience or hands-on design/build experience a plus.
