About the Role:

We are looking for a meticulous SDET with a developer's mindset and a passion for quality. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives on tackling the challenges of testing complex, distributed systems at scale. This role is critical to us in ensuring technology functions efficiently and effectively, minimises errors, and helps to meet software quality goals.

What You’ll Do:

• Monitor automation metrics for continuous quality & process improvements.

• Collaborate with the various teams at Motive to understand test automation needs.

• Lead programmatic best practices by example, be a hands-on programmer and tech guru.

• Estimating efforts, identifying risks, devising mitigation and meeting the project’s automation schedules.

• Contribute to/Maintain test automation framework development.

Provide strategic direction for testing large-scale distributed systems with IoT devices on the collaborate with development teams and help lead shift-left initiatives to drive quality early in the SDLC

What We’re Looking For:

• Expertise in Java-based Test Automation: You have 5+ years of experience and deep, hands-on proficiency in Java for building and maintaining robust test automation. You don't just write scripts; you build clean, reusable, and maintainable framework components.

• Specialised API & UI Testing Experience: You have proven experience developing automation for:Backend/API: Testing complex RESTful APIs within a microservices architecture, specifically using frameworks like RestAssured.

• Browser: Creating reliable and scalable UI tests for modern web applications using tools like Playwright.

• A Software Engineering Mindset: You adhere to industry best practices, including object-oriented design, clean code principles, and conducting thorough code reviews. You are comfortable navigating large, mature codebases and contributing high-quality code.

• Proven Ownership and Impact: You have a track record of owning the test automation strategy for significant product features. You can work independently to analyze requirements, design test solutions, and deliver them on schedule in a fast-paced environment.

• CI/CD and DevOps Acumen: You have hands-on experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) to provide fast, reliable feedback to development teams.

• Complex Systems Thinking: You have experience testing in a distributed cloud environment, ideally AWS. You are comfortable designing end-to-end tests that validate data flow across multiple services, and you are proficient in writing SQL queries to verify data in relational databases like PostgreSQL.

• Strong Collaboration Skills: You excel at working with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA analysts, and product managers, to ensure quality is a shared responsibility throughout the entire development lifecycle.
