📌 Job Description – Senior SAP Basis Consultant

Position Summary

The Senior SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for the strategic design, installation, configuration, and administration of SAP systems across on-premise and cloud environments. This senior role ensures optimal system performance, availability, and security while leading upgrades, migrations, and complex SAP projects. The consultant will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior Basis staff, and provide expert guidance to deliver robust, scalable SAP infrastructure solutions.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

 

• Lead the installation, configuration, and deployment of SAP solutions as provided by the vendor.
• Manage and resolve Level 2 & 3 incidents, complex changes, and critical problems across SAP landscapes.
• Oversee and maintain technical documentation; ensure knowledge sharing within the Basis team.
• Design and implement new functionalities and enhancements for existing SAP environments.
• Plan and execute system upgrades including Kernel Upgrade, Support Stack Upgrade, SAP Upgrade, and S/4HANA Conversion.
• Deploy SAP solutions across on-premise and cloud platforms; experience with AWS and Azure is a strong advantage.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of SAP and HANA systems.
• Administer and maintain enterprise databases (HANA, DB2, MSSQL, etc.) supporting SAP applications.
• Lead system refreshes across multiple client SAP environments.
• Maintain SAP environments in Operational Condition (MCO) across diverse technologies.
• Support and optimize SAP Fiori (Gateway) environments.
• Manage authorization objects and implement robust security policies.
• Provide expert analysis and optimization of SAP systems to improve efficiency and performance.
• Advise clients and stakeholders on best practices for SAP administration, governance, and system performance.
• Conduct advanced system tuning and performance optimization activities.
• Produce high-quality deliverables, including technical documentation, reports, and project artifacts.
• Mentor and guide junior Basis consultants, fostering skills development and knowledge transfer.

🛠️ Required Skills & Qualifications:

 

• Extensive experience in SAP Basis administration and consultancy, including large-scale deployments.
• Deep understanding of SAP landscapes, HANA, and various database technologies.
• Proven experience in system upgrades, S/4HANA conversions, and cloud-based SAP environments.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience in mentoring or leading a Basis team is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of security, authorization, and compliance requirements in SAP systems.
