Senior Researcher - Pulses

LDC is looking for a Senior Research Analyst to join the Research team under Pulses platform who will be solely responsible for primary and secondary data collection and participating crop production analyses, share production related aspects and trend analysis to the business and contribute towards effective business results. 

Responsibilities: 

• Implementation and supervision of agreed research methodology for crop estimation analytical 
• Contribution to the development of the research methodology and strategy. Continuous review of the methodology being applied in view of observations made during crop tours. 
• Building and maintaining Global Balance sheets for all types of Pulses 
• Primary research and data collection from various sources for analysis of various trends over prices and volumes. 
• Conduct crop tours across different regions of India. The Job involves extensive travel across India. 
• Estimate Pulses area by collecting data from official sources regularly, Confirmation of area estimates through visual estimation of area changes Farmer interviews and  Gathering of information from third parties like research institutes, Seed industry, Agri departments etc. 
• Highlight the risks to the crop estimate by working out various scenarios. Assessment of the impact of various scenarios on yields and associated probabilities such as weather, pests, diseases and changing costs or supply of inputs or labor etc. 
• Close monitoring of weather developments and long-term forecasts to update production estimates. 
• Analyze trends, evaluate behaviors etc. and make appropriate conclusions. 
• Conducting detailed cost of production & Gross margins studies. 
• Regularly monitor the crop development using Agronomical and statistical tools. 
• Ability to think analytically, detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections. 
• Work as part of a team and ensure the team meets its objectives. 
• Communication of the findings in the form of well-argued crop tour report 

 

• Master degree in Agriculture, Agri Business Administration, Agri Economics, Agri Statistics 
• 5+ Years of Experience 

• Strong working knowledge in MS office.    
• Willing to travel upcountry on regular basis for crop tours and to supervise the implementation of crop estimation methodology 
• Knowing Python or Coding skills is advantage
