Overview of the role
Incisive Media’s leading publication Professional Pensions is looking for a diligent, enthusiastic and experienced Senior Reporter.
This role is at the heart of covering the UK occupational pensions sector - with a strong emphasis on agenda-setting journalism that influences industry decision-making.
The Senior Reporter will take the lead in seeking out exclusive and off-diary news stories that will be of key interest to PP’s audience of trustees, pension fund managers, asset managers and advisers.
They will be comfortable building relationships across the pensions industry and keen to represent Professional Pensions at meetings and events, acting as a visible ambassador for the brand.
The successful candidate will also regularly write features focusing on key industry themes, exclusive research and interviews with key figures in the pensions space, as well as produce multimedia content and help chair some of PP’s own events.
Key Responsibilities
Support the editors to deliver exclusive and insightful content on PP in a timely manner.
Keep ahead of key trends shaping the industry and help set the news agenda for PP.
Take the lead in developing exclusive stories for PP as well as writing more general copy.
Step up to help with multimedia content and help on certain PP events, including presenting sessions or hosting panels.
What we value
Experience in journalism, financial journalism preferable.
The ability to maintain and actively cultivate a wide network of senior pension industry contacts, leveraging strong relationships across the market to break stories, verify information, and generate exclusive reporting opportunities.
A degree or equivalent in journalism, media studies, communications, or other relevant subject.
Analytical and investigative journalism skills preferred but not essential.
Good grasp of media law.
Knowledge of pensions, investment and UK financial services or experience in financial reporting preferable.
Experience of writing news, features, analysis and interviews.
Ability to write accurate copy to a high standard.
Experience of working in a newsroom that produces off-diary and exclusive reporting.
Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Experience of meeting short and long-term deadlines.
