A Day in the Life
In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Senior Reliability Software Engineer role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams on design of software for class I, II and III medical devices per software standards, e.g. IEC62304.
• Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and mentoring on software engineering and software reliability best practices to quality engineers.
• Evaluates designs for potential failure modes, assesses potential hazards and harms, prioritizes safety risks, identifies appropriate risk controls, and compiles evidence to demonstrate benefits outweigh product risks.
• Design and execute software reliability tests to demonstrate software is reliable.
• Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, designs, and other engineering artifacts, ensuring timely delivery to meet program commitments.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives for the software quality team. This includes recognizing areas for improvement as well as working with others to develop and document process improvements.
• Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will increase team velocity.
• Work collaboratively across functions and with internal and external partners to deliver high quality products to the marketplace.
Key Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant technical experience, or advanced degree with 2 years of technical experience.
• Passion for creating high quality software and documentation
• Strong Leadership and mentoring skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Proficiency working in a team environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience in software design for medical devices
• Experience with Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development
• Proficiency in two or more of the following technologies: C++, Java, JavaScript, HTML, C#, .NET, Python, Angular, Xamarin
