Senior QA Engineer

At Robots & Pencils, we’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer (Manual) to join a newly formed, R&P-led team working on a greenfield application. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the quality, reliability, and usability of a modern platform designed to support operational workflows and distributed teams across both web and native mobile applications (iOS and Android).

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to define testing strategies, validate new features, and ensure high-quality releases. This is an opportunity to work from the ground up on a new product, influence QA processes, and contribute to building a strong quality culture within the team.

In February 2025, we opened our new office in Lviv, Ukraine, as part of our ongoing global growth. We’re actively expanding our Ukrainian team and inviting skilled professionals to join us on this journey. You’ll collaborate with a distributed team working on high-impact products with colleagues across North and South America and Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and execute detailed manual test cases based on user stories and requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define acceptance criteria and testing strategies
• Perform functional, regression, exploratory, and usability testing for web and native mobile applications (iOS & Android)
• Identify, document, and track defects through to resolution
• Validate front-end and API integrations to ensure a seamless user experience across platforms
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, standards, and best practices
• Participate in agile ceremonies and provide input on quality risks and timelines

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance (manual testing)
• Proven experience testing both web and native mobile applications (iOS and Android)
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices
• Experience testing modern web applications
• Experience working with RESTful APIs (e.g., using Postman or similar tools)
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Upper-Intermediate English (written and spoken)

Nice to Have

• Experience working on greenfield products or in fast-paced startup-like environments
• Familiarity with test management and bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail)
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies (e.g., React, browser dev tools)
• Experience testing mobile-specific features (push notifications, offline mode, device compatibility)
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing or modern QA tooling
