Senior SDETs embed developer‑owned testing and accelerate teams with AI‑assisted test generation, risk‑based prioritization, self‑healing automation, and privacy‑safe synthetic data within fast CI/CD feedback loops. The role curates AI testing capabilities, defines evaluation guardrails, and measures impact through coverage growth, flakiness reduction, and faster signal on risky changes. Success is reflected in developer autonomy, resilient pipelines, and improved defect discovery through autonomous exploration and analytics‑driven prioritization.

Meet the job

• Define and evolve the test strategy, pyramid shape, and quality practices for squads, emphasizing developer ownership and prevention over detection;

• Build and maintain shared test frameworks, fixtures, reusable libraries, and reference suites to accelerate teams;

• Serve as the primary quality gatekeeper for the designated domain, ensuring all quality standards are met before a release;

• Drive pre‑development testing notes, example mapping, and risk identification so engineers “code and test once” with fewer handoffs;

• Set and maintain CI/CD quality gates, including smoke, contract, integration, and UI checks tuned for fast feedback and reliability;

• Partner on observability and production monitoring to spot regressions quickly and inform test strategy with real‑world signals;

• Coach engineers in test design, exploratory techniques, and effective AI usage patterns across unit, contract, integration, UI, performance, and security testing;

• Operate a synthetic data program that enforces privacy constraints, schema fidelity, and edge‑case generation to unblock deterministic test setups;

• Curate standard tooling and environments, including seeded data strategies and deterministic test setups for web/mobile/backend;

• Contribute to security, performance, and accessibility testing practices in collaboration with domain specialists;

• Lead enablement sessions, office hours, and guild initiatives to uplift skills and ensure consistency across teams.

How about you?

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years in quality engineering, SDET, or software engineering with a strong testing focus;

• Proficiency in at least one of the organization’s core languages and test frameworks, plus hands‑on CI/CD experience;

• Demonstrated experience building automation frameworks and coaching developers in test design and exploratory techniques.

Role competencies

• Knowledge & application: Designs multi‑level test strategies, implements reliable frameworks, and aligns automation with business risk;

• Complexity & problem solving: Anticipates edge cases, decomposes hard testing problems, and reduces flakiness through better isolation and contracts;

• Collaboration & interaction: Influences without gatekeeping, co‑creates testing plans with engineers, and communicates risk clearly to stakeholders.

DevOps and CI/CD

• Ensures pipelines provide fast, deterministic feedback, and evolves guardrails as architecture and release cadence change;

• Partners with platform teams on ephemeral environments, test data seeding, and observability to close the loop from code to production.

Career path
