Position Overview
FlexTrade Systems is seeking a Senior Purchasing Manager / Procurement Lead to establish and scale the company’s enterprise-wide procurement function. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, with a dotted-line partnership to the Senior Vice President of Finance, this role is a critical operational leadership position responsible for cost discipline, vendor governance, and scalable procurement practices across a global technology organization.
The role will have direct responsibility for managing an estimated $20–$40 million in annual spend, spanning IT infrastructure, software licensing, cloud services, professional services, and other more traditional enterprise purchasing categories (travel, facilities, etc). Initially operating as a hands-on individual contributor, the successful candidate will design procurement strategy, policies, and controls from the ground up, with the opportunity to build and lead a small procurement team as the function matures and business scales.
This position requires a pragmatic, commercially strong procurement leader who can balance speed, reliability, and cost optimization in a mission-critical fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement Leadership
• Establish and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with FlexTrade’s operational priorities, financial objectives, and growth trajectory
• Serve as the primary procurement partner to the COO and senior business leaders, translating operational requirements into effective and proactive sourcing and purchasing solutions
• Design and implement procurement policies, approval frameworks, and governance standards to ensure efficiency, transparency, and compliance
• Build scalable procurement processes capable of supporting a global, multi-office organization
IT & Technology Procurement (Core Focus)
• Lead procurement for all IT hardware, including servers, workstations, networking equipment, and infrastructure supporting high-performance trading systems
• Manage software licensing and SaaS procurement across development, testing, and production environments
• Oversee sourcing of cloud infrastructure, managed services, professional services, and technical support contracts
• Partner closely with IT leadership to forecast technology needs, evaluate technical requirements, and ensure procurement decisions support the product roadmap
• Negotiate complex commercial agreements, including enterprise license agreements, master service agreements, and multi-year contracts
Enterprise-Wide Purchasing
• Manage procurement across non-IT categories including facilities, office operations, professional services, marketing, and general operational spend
• Coordinate purchasing activities across global offices in North America, Europe, and Asia
• Establish preferred supplier programs and long-term vendor relationships to ensure service quality, reliability, and competitive pricing
• Implement spend visibility and reporting to support budgeting, forecasting, and executive decision-making
Vendor & Contract Management
• Source, evaluate, and onboard vendors based on capability, financial stability, risk profile, and alignment with FlexTrade’s requirements
• Lead commercial negotiations to optimize pricing, terms, and service levels while mitigating operational and financial risk
• Manage the full contract lifecycle in partnership with Legal and Finance, including drafting, review, execution, renewals, and amendments
• Monitor vendor performance, proactively resolve issues, and conduct periodic reviews with strategic suppliers
Financial Governance & Cross-Functional Partnership
• Partner with the SVP of Finance on budget planning, cash-flow considerations, and financial controls related to vendor spend
• Ensure procurement activities align with audit requirements, internal controls, and financial governance standards
• Provide regular reporting to executive leadership on spend trends, savings initiatives, vendor concentration, and risk exposure
• Establish and manage a clear mechanism to identify, track, and allocate customer-specific pass-through costs (e.g., connectivity, hardware, software licenses, data, cloud resources, or services procured on behalf of specific clients)
• Work closely with Billing and Finance to support timely and accurate pass-through invoicing
Team Development & Capability Build-Out
• Initially operate as a hands-on procurement leader managing day-to-day purchasing activities
• Build and develop a small, high-performing procurement team as the organization and spend profile scale
• Design purchasing workflows, approval hierarchies, and delegation frameworks to support efficient operations
• Evaluate and implement procurement tools such as e-procurement platforms, contract lifecycle management systems, and spend analytics solutions
