We have an opening for a Senior Project Manager for Superblock to support ongoing projects in the Superblock, a DOE Hazard Category 2 nuclear facility. You will work with technical leads in Engineering and Project Controls to enable effective execution of applicable technical work scope. You will apply advanced technical knowledge in project management to manage cost, schedule, and risk and to track project status by developing metrics and dashboards. You will educate and guide the technical leads on proper project management techniques. These positions are in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate.
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home up to one day per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options, may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.
You will
• Manage multiple complex technical projects simultaneously, applying advanced project management principles to balance resources, priorities, and risks.
• Serve as the liaison between technical staff, the Superblock Program Office, and Project Controls to monitor work progress and assess the impact of changes.
• Develop and maintain project metrics, dashboards, and status reporting tools to communicate project performance effectively.
• Support Control Account Managers in planning and executing scope, schedule, and budget for assigned control accounts.
• Mentor principal investigators and lead engineers in developing work proposals, statements of work, project plans, and project risk assessments and responses.
• Perform complex project analysis independently to support decision-making and achievement of project goals and objectives.
• Lead the planning of large, cross-functional efforts, including development of project plans, task estimates, and coordination across multiple disciplines.
• Establish project direction, requirements, and execution strategies for technical efforts, and present plans and recommendations to management at all levels.
• Facilitate collaboration with senior leaders and internal and external stakeholders to drive completion of major project activities
• This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of hardware development lifecycle processes, including design, fabrication, testing, qualification, and deployment.
• Significant experience managing complex technical or R&D projects, including planning, organizing, and tracking scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
• Expertise in control account management, including associated processes and integration with key functional areas.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, trending, and integrated project analysis.
• Proven ability to lead major cross-functional efforts and coordinate work across internal organizations and external stakeholders.
• Advanced written, verbal, facilitation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams, senior management, and external sponsors.
• Ability to build teams, resolve conflict, and influence outcomes without direct authority, while remaining flexible in response to changing priorities and emergent program needs.
Qualifications We Desire
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or equivalent project management training.
• Experience working in an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) environment, including cost and schedule performance tracking.
• Experience supporting large, highly regulated, or mission-critical technical programs, preferably in a national laboratory, government, or similarly complex environment.
• Experience developing and using project metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools to communicate status and support decision-making.
• Experience preparing work proposals, statements of work, risk assessments, and project execution plans for complex technical efforts.
• Experience collaborating with senior leaders, sponsors, and multidisciplinary technical teams to resolve issues and drive project outcomes.
 
Pay Range
 $185,850   - $235,692  Annually
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage.  An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Security Clearance
This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.

If you use a medical device, which pairs with a mobile device, you must still follow the rules concerning the mobile device in individual sections within Limited Areas.  Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities require separate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas, Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.
