*We are urgently looking for a Senior Project Manager on a contract basis, based in Cape Town.
This will be a short term contract role, initially for three to four months. The person will need to be on site and able to step in quickly, as the requirement is immediate. *
Alacrity, a division of Saratoga, is seeking a skilled Senior Project Manager to join the international team at our client, Worldwide Chain Stores.
As the Senior Project Manager you will lead complex, high-value, multi-stream implementations for IT and Supply Chain global enterprise clients. This role owns delivery, executive stakeholder alignment, commercial outcomes, and governance across large or business-critical projects.
You will act as a trusted advisor to client leadership, steering committees, and internal executives while ensuring projects deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Delivery Leadership
• Lead complex, multi-workstream software implementations from initiation through go-live and transition to support.
• Own delivery for large or business-critical projects.
• Direct globally distributed technical and consulting teams.
• Ensure projects meet scope, timeline, quality, and financial targets.
2. Executive Stakeholder Management
• Engage with C-suite and executive sponsors on both client and internal sides.
• Lead steering committee meetings and executive governance forums.
• Translate technical delivery risks into strategic business language.
3. Commercial & Strategic Ownership
• Own financial performance including forecasting, margin protection, and revenue realization.
• Identify expansion or upsell opportunities during project lifecycle.
• Draft Statements of Work and change requests.
4. Risk & Governance
• Anticipate enterprise-level delivery risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Escalate critical issues proactively and manage cross-programme dependencies.
• Ensure delivery governance frameworks, reporting standards, and KPIs are followed.
5. Leadership & Mentorship
• Mentor Project Managers and delivery teams.
• Contribute to internal continuous improvement and delivery best practices.
• Support resource planning across multiple projects.
• Support go lives which can involve evening / weekend work as required.
• Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management
