Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support engineering and service activities in all types of project sizes and complexities, under the supervision of senior engineers. Each day, you will complete the tasks cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards. You will also showcase your expertise by collecting data and supporting production of the engineering design.

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Energy business / Engineering and Service in Madrid, Spain. Main stakeholders are Operations, Engineering and Service group.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Supporting engineering work: basic surveys, calculations, analysis, design drafts, CAD, testing, and project documentation.

Working in Application engineering/development in any of the DCS.

Startup and Commissioning, Troubleshooting of System and technical support.

Assisting contract management by identifying variation requests for claims.

Following project plans and cost estimates, ensuring timely and quality deliveries within budget.

Contributing to risk management by supporting assessments and handling technical risks by guidelines.

Engaging with customers, contractors, and suppliers; supports RFQs, vendor reviews, and project execution.

Delivering service activities (installation, commissioning, maintenance), uses standard tools/processes, and may coordinate technicians and staff.

Qualifications for the Role

A bachelor’s degree in automation engineering with focus on Process Automation across different industry sectors like power generation, chemical, water, etc.

Proven working experience with 10+ years hands-on in process Automation systems, particularly in application engineering, HMI engineering, 3rd party communication interfaces, FAT, and SAT for process automation.

Knowledge of DCS / ICS industry standards and specifications.

Experience in design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of DCS / ICS applications.

Ability to work on multiple discipline projects.

Decision-making, leadership, time management, and organizational skills.

Good working knowledge of Networks, IT/OT Systems, and Cyber Security.

Good Understanding of common OT protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, IEC104, OPC, IEC61850 etc.

Experience with ICS systems DCS/PCS, ESD, and F&G.

Experience with ABB DCS systems, especially Harmony Infi90, Symphony Plus, Process Portal B and 800xA

Engineer applications using IEC-61131-3 languages (FB, ST, SFC).

Demonstrated experience to engineer, integrate, configure, test, and validate DCS systems developed in an orderly and efficient way, applying knowledge and optimizing the solution to be installed.

Willingness to travel approximately 40%

Spanish and English languages required. Other languages are a plus
